Abstract

Summary The term « post colonial literature » is the literature of every culture that has been affected by imperialism. It is a sort of symbolic cultural resistance which uses the language of the colonizer to destroy western centeredness. Critic Edward Said calls it “the counter narrative”. The “counter narrative” is distinct from central narratives represented by the writings of the master about the slave. This kind of resistant narrative emphasizes an identity made of cultural privacy and nationalist elements, and corrects the stereotype created about native peoples by the imperial west. It is a reclaiming of the voice of a follower who is telling the story from his own perspective.
