Peer-review policies
El Omda in Linguistics and Discourse Analysis follows a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the scientific quality of all submitted manuscripts. Papers undergo several evaluation stages, from initial technical screening to the final publication decision.
1. Initial Submission & Screening
Upon submission via the ASJP platform, the manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation by a subject editor. The paper is checked for scope alignment, formatting compliance, and similarity (plagiarism check). Only manuscripts that meet these criteria proceed to external peer review.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review Process
The journal employs a Double-Blind Peer Review system where the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. While authors may suggest potential reviewers, the final selection is at the sole discretion of the Editorial Board.
3. Editorial Decisions
Based on the reviewers' reports, the editor will make one of the following decisions:
- Acceptance: No further changes required.
- Minor Revisions: Small formal or linguistic adjustments.
- Major Revisions: Significant changes to content, methodology, or analysis.
- Rejection: If the paper does not meet the journal's scientific standards.
4. Revisions and Responses
When revisions are requested, authors must submit the revised manuscript within the specified timeframe, along with a detailed response table addressing each reviewer's comment point-by-point.
5. Final Acceptance and Publication
Once all editorial and technical requirements are met, the manuscript is formally accepted. Authors will receive a "Galley Proof" for a final check of typographical errors before the final online publication.
6. Appeals and Complaints
Authors may submit a single appeal against a rejection if they believe a clear misunderstanding occurred during the review process. The Journal’s Ethics Committee will evaluate the appeal and issue a final decision.
