Basics of Data Analysis and Interpretation in Media Studies
Keywords:
Analysis, Interpretation, Data, Media Studies, Theoretical FrameworksAbstract
It is undeniable that data and information are the fundamental elements of any scientific work, as they assist researchers in precisely defining the dimensions of the problem, its causes, and methods of treatment. Interpreting data to reach conclusions helps build and develop human knowledge by qualifying the researcher for important stages in scientific research, without which it is impossible to study and analyse scientific problems and reach conclusions. The researchers work in interpreting and analyzing data is an attempt to understand the phenomena, a creative step that highlights the synergy of the researchers mental abilities, cognitive experiences, and ability to think soundly and accurately. Most media research is characterized by an overemphasis on empiricism and quantitative interpretation of results without referring to supporting information from theoretical frameworks. The researcher often settles for a quantitative presentation of research results without delving into their analysis and interpretation. It is necessary to take into account not stopping at the limits of automatic data division and classification in the absence of a critical and thorough view of numbers, statistics, and
Quantitative results. In this research paper, we will try to address an important aspect of scientific research by explaining some levels and methods of analysis, as well as how to build an analysis and interpretation of results in media research.
