Abstract

Summative assessment is a measurement and estimation tool reflecting the degree of mastery of intended competencies within the educational process; however, despite reforms accompanying the Competency-Based Approach, the focus on aggregate grades and the neglect of recording partial marks during evaluation remains an obstacle, as it overlooks effective indicators that provide valuable feedback on strengths and weaknesses in competency acquisition; since learners' errors are situational indicators within the competency-building path, their locations must be precisely identified and utilized to diagnose causes and implement targeted remedial actions; thus, this study, titled "Activating the Role of Summative Assessment: Assessing Linguistic Competencies in the Fifth Year of Primary School as a Model," proposes an alternative correction method to resolve this issue, enhance the effectiveness of summative assessment, and analyze Arabic language test results according to this approach.
