Abstract

 Poetry is considered as one of the important subjects of human thought in the field of literary and critical studies: it has been studied, analyzed and translated since poetry examines the laws that govern literary discourse and distinguish it from others. Through this intervention,I try to show the ancient Greek origins of the poetic term, and its characteristics among Muslim sages. Then the recent interest of the West for this term and its transfer to the Arabs, as well as their efforts throughout the world .book of Adonis, " Arabic Poetry " as a source of this matter of discussion.
