Degree of (Inter)Cultural Exploitability of Supporting Texts Proposed in Algerian Secondary School Textbooks

This article is part of a reflection on the use of literary texts in secondary school textbooks. It aims to suggest possible ways to better understand these texts in today’s FLE classroom. The observations focus on the literary texts selected for pedagogical use at the secondary level. Our study draws on an intercultural and anthropological approach that considers the literary text as a bridge in the relationship with the Other. It is grounded in a literary didactic approach that does not seek to reduce the literary text to a mere socio-historical representation or to treat it as a witness to the historical evolution of mentalities, but rather to affirm human development as a coherent and unified whole.
