Perception and Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) among French Language Teachers in a University Context

This study explores how French language teachers use generative artificial intelligence (GAI) tools in their teaching practices and examines their perceptions of the usefulness of these tools. To achieve this, an online questionnaire survey was conducted among 46 French teachers from several Algerian universities.
The results reveal that more than half of the teachers use GAI tools—specifically ChatGPT—for documentary research related to lesson preparation, and that they are aware of the usefulness of these tools in improving their teaching practices.
