Daesh: Usage and Conditions of Production of a Designation in Algeria

Abstract

In this present contribution, we propose to study the emergence of a designation within the Algerian context. It involves first questioning the conditions under which the nickname “Daesh” was produced, and then examining the different meanings conveyed by this designation. Our objective is therefore to show the role of the nickname as an indicator reflecting a socio-political reality.
