Abstract

This article addresses a fundamental aspect of rhetorical theory, an expansive field that investigates the landmarks and foundations of linguistic theory. It focuses particularly on lexical theory, which is concerned with adapting lexicography within modern linguistic studies while tracing its origins in ancient lexical description. Consequently, the landmarks of lexical theory are linked to the consistency found within linguistic entries and their adaptation in modern studies, such as their integration into lexicology and other disciplines. Furthermore, it explores the relationship between lexical theory and electronic or historical dictionaries, including their scientific requirements.
