Abstract

This study aims to highlight the importance of combining cultural reading with literary reading in order to reach the aesthetic and appreciative level of narrative texts, especially the novel. The writings of Ibrahim al-Koni are among those that carry profound literary and cultural depth, whose meanings and the implicit discourse behind their language cannot be fully grasped without deep analysis and the use of multiple interpretive approaches to uncover the meanings of the text.

The novel The Bleeding of the Stone is one of the works in which the author successfully adapts language despite the harshness of the setting in which the events take place, namely the desert environment. The meanings of this novel can only be fully accessed through the adoption of cultural reading alongside literary reading.
