Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (JOSSH) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal seeks to ensure transparency, credibility, and scientific rigor at all stages of the publication process.
The journal’s policies and procedures are guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and are aligned with the COPE Core Practices in handling ethical issues related to scholarly publishing.
- Authors’ Responsibilities
- Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts are original, have not been previously published, and are not under consideration by another journal at the same time.
- All sources used in the manuscript must be appropriately cited and acknowledged.
- Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
- Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant scientific contribution to the work.
- Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to their research.
- Reviewers’ Responsibilities
- JOSSH adopts a double-blind peer review process.
- Reviewers are required to:
- Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
- Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.
- Inform the editors of any substantial similarity or overlap with other works.
- Decline the review if a conflict of interest exists.
- Editors’ Responsibilities
- Editors make publication decisions based solely on the academic merit of the manuscript, regardless of authors’ gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
- The editorial board ensures the integrity, fairness, and confidentiality of the peer review process.
- Editors are committed to addressing ethical complaints and disputes in accordance with COPE guidelines.
- In cases of serious errors or unethical conduct, the journal may take appropriate actions, including:
- Publishing corrections
- Issuing retractions when necessary
- Plagiarism Policy
- All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism detection using appropriate similarity-checking tools.
- Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, whether in part or in whole, will be rejected or retracted following established ethical procedures.
- Corrections and Retractions
- The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
- Corrections, clarifications, or retractions will be published when required, in accordance with COPE retraction guidelines.
- Complaints and Appeals
- The journal handles all complaints related to publication ethics with fairness, transparency, and confidentiality.
- Allegations of misconduct are investigated following COPE procedures and recommendations.
