Abstract

This research on the resilience in child exposed to family violence aims to study the intrapsychic factors involved in the resilience process, in particular, the contribution of defense mechanisms, the quality of mentalization and the richness of imaginary space. The study is carried out on 10 cases of exposed children and victims of family violence suffered by their mother in its different forms whose mothers have proven their consent for the participation with their children in this research. Regarding the age group that interests us, there are children in latency period, aged 7 to 9 years. The theoretical approach adopted in this research is the psychodynamic theory of resilience developed by De Tychey and his collaborators. The adopted methodology is based on the clinical method including the technique of semi-directive clinical interview with mothers and the Rorschach projective test with children. The results obtained in this research indicate that the intrapsychic dimensions are involved in the emergence and deployment of the resilience process in these children. A case study will be presented of a resilient girl following his exhibition to family violence inflicted on her mother to illustrate the results obtained in this research.
