Keywords:
the short story, the overlapping of genres, the absent textAbstract
The study deals with the openness of the short story to literary genres, and the evocation of the absent text in the collection of short stories “The Neighing of Perplexity” (Lajlawji) from poetry, maqamat, and the essay... until it became an encyclopedic text that does not recognize the boundaries between genres. The storyteller also invoked the absent text through intertextuality. The story with the text of the Hamadani Maqama, as well as Qur’anic intertextuality. The literary genres that were intertwined with the story contributed to enriching the narrative form according to (Galawji), just as the absent texts contributed to enriching the present text.
