This study aims to shed light on the cinematic refrence in burhan chawi’s novel “ the rest of
mephisto”. This refrence has significantly contributed in the construction of the text
structurally and semantically. The cinematic refrence in this novel reflected the illusion
associated with human reality from varios social,, cultural and political perspective based on
the idea of attaining the most wanted desires over age.
The significance of such cinematic refrence can be highlited through the relationship between
the narrative text and the film as it is depicted through the novelist’s use of scenario and
montage techniques, with the aim of amplifying the text aesthetically and artistically across
other arts. Moreover, it tends to depeen its semantic through universal questioning of man’s
