The objective of this study is to study the effect of a proposed sports program on some anthropometric indices in sedentary women who are overweight. The sample in this study consists of 9 sedentary women (age: 25.44 ± 5.27 years old, height: 1.67 ± 0.06 meters and weight: 88.72 ± 14.87 kg) who agreed to follow a training program based on general endurance and strength training of the abdominal strap at the rate of 4 sessions per week of an average duration of 1 hour during a period of 4 months. The measured parameters are represented by the following indices : body weight, body mass index, body fat, 12 skins folds and the distance covered during the 5-minute endurance test. All these measurements were carried out 3 times during the period of application of the proposed program. The results of this study show overall a significant decrease in measured parameters including body weight, body mass index, fat mass and skin folds and in parallel a significant improvement in aerobic performance through the 5-minute test.
In conclusion, the proposed sports program has reduced overall fat mass and thickness of skin folds locally and an evolution of performance during an aerobic exercise in sedentary women with overweight body.
