Assessment of the linguistic balance of the mentally retarded studying at the Psychological Pedagogical Center No. 01 in M'sila town

Abstract

This study seeks to identify the difference in the level of language balance among the mentally retarded who study at the Psychological Pedagogical Center No. 01 in the Wilayat of M’sila, according to the severity of their disability (light and medium); By clarifying and highlighting the great importance that the language variable enjoys in our daily life and its contributions to achieving social integration, as it is the first affected in the event of a defect at the cognitive level. This study also focused on developing their language abilities; Through the use of the study tools represented in the test of language disorders in children (a verbal-functional and linguistic test) prepared by Schofrey Miller and his colleagues (L2MA); After applying the test to a sample of (18) male and female students, they were chosen by the intentional method. After collecting the data, the study hypotheses were processed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 25). The following results were obtained:

Focusing on the development of cognitive processes such as attention, concentration, memory and cognition before language.

The use of the tangible in teaching these students.

With regard to language, the words or sentences must be accompanied by teaching aids that clearly indicate their meaning and meaning.

To take into account the repeated use of words coupled with the necessary clarifications so that the process of linking the word and its meaning is completed.
