Abstract

Computer-assisted translation has certainly revolutionized translation practice; however, its output still shows imperfections that require human intervention in order to resolve issues of ambiguity and syntactic reorganization, and to establish accurate correspondences and equivalences between two languages.

From this perspective, and through illustrative examples, we highlight the effective human–machine collaboration in the context of computer-assisted translation (CAT), emphasizing the complementarity of both in increasing translators’ productivity and improving translation quality.

But to what extent can human–machine collaboration truly guarantee translation quality?
