Abstract

Cognitive linguists have always insisted on the idea that metaphor is not only a linguistic matter, but rather a tool of reasoning and persuasion which is present in all discourses, One of the most prominent examples of that is journalistic caricature. Journalists use metaphor silently to convey certain meanings and messages to the reader. This research paper is going to shed light on these manifestations of this cognitive phenomenon in caricatures (El Bilad newspaper as a case study).
