Abstract

The objective of the current study was to identify differences in the level of motivation for achievement between students directed to scientific divisions and those directed to literary divisions in the second year of secondary education. The analytical descriptive curriculum was used in proportion to this type of study. The study was based on the "Motivation for Achievement for Children and Adults" scale by Hermans (1970). It was amended by the researcher Fatima Al-Zahra Boujtoutou and applied to the Algerian environment. The stability of the drive measure of achievement has also been verified using the Alpha Chrombach, one of the most important internal consistency measures, and the calculated value of Alpha Chrombach (0.80) is a function of a high stability factor that assures the stability of the scale. The Social Studies Package Programme (spss) was used to conduct statistical processing of data collected from the study tool, using a range of statistical methods to analyse data obtained, such as arithmetic average and standard deviation, as well as the t.test test of uneven samples in the two groups to examine differences between the middle grades of two groups of individuals. Finally, the results of the study suggest that there are no differences in the level of motivation for achievement between students directed to scientific divisions and students directed to literary divisions in the second year of secondary school. The outcome of this study has been discussed in theory and earlier studies.
