The level of social support for a sample of students deprived of a father in the city of M’sila

Social support is an important source of effective psychological and social support that a person needs. The volume of social support, and the level of satisfaction with it, contribute to how the individual confronts stressful life events in all its forms, how he deals with these events, and the methods of confronting them. Social support also plays an important role in satisfying the need for psychological security, and reducing the level of psychological suffering resulting from the severity of these stressful events. From this point of view, the current study came with the aim of identifying the level of social support among a sample of students deprived of a father. The study also aimed to:
- Detecting the differences in the level of social support due to the gender variable.
- Detecting the differences in the level of social support due to the variable of the scientific division.
To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive approach was relied on, and a sample of (58) students who were totally deprived of their father were selected. Abdul-Maqsoud (2001) and the following results were obtained:
The level of social support among a sample of students deprived of a father is high.
- There are statistically significant differences in the level of social support due to the gender variable in favor of females.
- There are no statistically significant differences in the level of social support due to the variable of the scientific division.
A set of recommendations were also presented based on the results of the study
