Elementary school between teacher competencies and teaching effectiveness, reality and prospects- A field study on 18 primary schools in the state of Tiaret

Abstract

Within the framework of monitoring the reality of primary education, this study came as an attempt to answer the following problem: What is the reality of teacher performance and what is the level of effectiveness of the primary school?

In this study, a descriptive approach that is compatible with the study and its hypotheses was followed. The study sample consisted of 130 primary education teachers, distributed over 18 primary schools. The sample was chosen in an intentional way in order to measure the internal effectiveness through the effectiveness of education and teaching competencies, which is expressed by the size of the specific results of the number of graduates (quantitative indicator), Three schools from each county were selected according to their learners' scores on the primary school end-of-school certification examination based on the high, average, and low scores for each county. Two tools were prepared to collect data, the first represented in an observation network to measure teaching competencies, and the second was represented by the Primary Education Effectiveness Measure. The statistical treatment was done by the SPSS program using a number of statistical methods represented by the weighted average, percentage weight, Spearman and Pearson correlation coefficient, and the study reached the following results:

1- The primary education teachers of the state of Tiaret practice teaching competencies with a good degree.

2- The teaching competencies of elementary education teachers in the state of Tiaret that are effective in the field are the sufficiency of class interaction.

3- The criteria for the effectiveness of the primary school in the state of Tiaret that are effective in the field is educational supervision.

4- There is a statistically significant average relationship at level 0.05 between the teaching competencies of primary education teachers in the state of Tiaret and the effectiveness of the primary school.

5- There is no statistically significant relationship between the effectiveness of primary schools in the state of Tiaret and the learners' performance (external effectiveness).
