Abstract

The current study aimed to apply three scales (despair scale, psychological alienation, and stressful life events) to four cases young men have the same age, social and economic level and they were subjected to the experience of illegal immigration. Using the case study approach, the following tools were applied: direct observation, half-guided interview, and three scales: Beck's Despair Scale, Psychological Alienation Scale and stressful life events Scale.

The following results were reached: the level of despair is low for the first and second cases residing abroad because of immigration and high for the third and fourth cases who failed to reach Europe.

  • In terms of psychological alienation, the four cases were similar with a high level of psychological alienation, and we concluded from it that the level of psychological alienation is high among young people subject to illegal immigration.
  • The level of stressful life events is medium for the first and second cases, but it zqs high for the third and fourth cases who failed to reach Europe.

The four cases were similar with a high level of family's stressful, economics stressful, socials stressful and personals stressful.
