Psychological stress can have both positive and negative effects on an individual's life, and the individual's response to stressful life situations varies across different age groups. Given that the adolescent stage is considered a highly sensitive period, we aimed to investigate how adolescents respond to such pressures and the solutions they may resort to. Considering the prevalence of suicide among youth, we sought to reveal whether adolescents who attempt suicide exhibit a high level of
psychological stress. The current study aims to examine the impact of psychological stress on suicidical attempts in adolescents. The cases involved two teenage girls aged 19 and 17. To achieve the study's objectives, we relied on a clinical approach based on a case study, which is most suitable for the nature of the subject. The research tools included clinical interviews and a case study, utilizing the "Levenstein" scale to assess psychological stress perception. The field study was conducted at the University Hospital Center - Saadna Abdelnour - in Setif, specifically in the Emergency Medical and Surgical Departments. The study results supported the first hypothesis, indicating that emotional stressors lead adolescents to attempt suicide. The second hypothesis, suggesting that psychological stress resulting from academic failure and frustration leads to suicidical attempts, was also confirmed. By verifying these two hypotheses, the overall hypothesis was confirmed indicating that adolescents who attempt suicide exhibit a high level of psychological stress. Therefore, we conclude that psychological stress significantly influences suicidical attempts in adolescents.
