Violence and its relationship to aggressive behavior among middle school students

Abstract

The current study aims to explore the relationship between violence and aggressive behavior among middle school students based on daily observations and practices within the adolescent environment and the behaviors exhibited by them in the school setting. The descriptive method was adopted to this present study a sample of adolescents enrolled in middle school.

 To achieve the study’s objectives, we utilized the PERRY and BUSS aggressive scale on a sample of 216 students (both male and female) who are in middle school aged between 14 and 17 years; who were selected randomly.

 After presenting and analyzing the statistical data; the results showed the following:

  • The simple individuals suffer from a high level of aggressive behavior.
  • The study found no correlation between violence and its types of aggressive behavior among the sample individuals.

In light of obtained results, the study recommended the implementation of awareness programs about the consequences of violence in the school environment, with a focus on psychological support and attention to school –related problems stemming from the aggressive behavior experienced by adolescents.
