Poor school adjustment and its relationship to school violence behaviors among middle school students

This study aims to reveal the relationship between school maladjustment and the emergence of violent behaviors School, in its verbal and physical forms, among middle school students, based on the increasing manifestations of violence within the school environment, which can threaten the psychological and behavioral balance of the student and negatively affect academic achievement and social interaction. The study relied on the descriptive correlational approach as the most appropriate for determining the relationship between variables, where two scales were built, one to measure school maladjustment and the other to measure school violence behaviors in its verbal
and physical aspects. After verifying the psychometric properties of each scale in terms of validity, reliability, and suitability for the characteristics of the study sample, the two tools were applied to a purposive sample of 30 middle school students who showed clear indicators of adjustment problems within the school. After conducting statistical processing using the program spss Based on the appropriate statistical method, which is the Pearson correlation coefficient, the results of the study found a strong and statistically significant correlation between school maladjustment and verbal violence behaviors, in addition to a strong and significant correlation between school maladjustment and physical violence behaviors. These results confirm that the student's poor ability to adapt to the requirements of the institution and its social environment can directly contribute to the escalation of manifestations of violence within the school, which calls for educational and psychological interventions aimed at enhancing school adjustment and reducing violent behaviors.
