Argumentation, Persuasion, and Influence in Qur'anic Texts in Light of New Rhetoric Abstract: Argumentation theory is the interdisciplinary study of how conclusions are supported or undermined by premises through logical reasoning. With its historical roots in logic, dialectics, and rhetoric, argumentation theory encompasses the arts and sciences of civil debate, dialogue, conversation, and persuasion. It studies the rules of reasoning, logic, and procedural rules in both artificial and real-world settings. Argumentation encompasses various forms of dialogue, such as deliberation and negotiation, which relate to collaborative decision-making procedures. It also includes epistemic dialogue, a branch of social debate in which victory over an opponent is the primary goal, and didactic dialogue used in teaching.
