The crises that the world is going through today have several names. We speak of economic crisis, financial crisis, health crisis, covid-19 crisis, etc. These different crises have affected both citizens and their discourse. Indeed, if we assume that discourse reflects a certain state of affairs, a power relationship, for example, this power relationship is transformed into a crisis that is established between the partners in the act of communication, which means that the meaning of the discourse can only be grasped in the instance of the context of enunciation. This crisis creates conflicting relationships that are clearly manifested in the way the interlocutors behave. Power relations, power, domination, action, incentive, obedience, etc. these are the crises that would be established between the speaker and his interlocutor in an interactive exchange. In this contribution, we wish to highlight the characteristics of a discourse in crisis, particularly on the linguistic level. In fact, it is possible to establish a close link between the modality of obligation and the discursive crisis that arises between the speaker and his communication partner.
