Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Eddissi Languages Journal welcomes original, unpublished manuscripts in the fields of language and literature studies. Submissions must meet the following requirements:

1. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be written in English or French.

  • Only original works not under consideration elsewhere will be accepted.

  • The length of the manuscript should generally range between 5,000–8,000 words, including references and appendices.

2. Formatting Standards

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

  • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font, 1.5 line spacing, and justified alignment.

  • Titles and headings should follow a clear hierarchy (e.g., Heading 1, Heading 2).

  • All pages must be numbered consecutively.

3. Structure of Manuscripts

  • Title Page: title, author(s), affiliation(s), ORCID (if available), and contact email.

  • Abstract: 150–250 words, with 4–6 keywords.

  • Main Text: introduction, methodology, results/discussion, conclusion.

  • References: complete list of works cited, following the chosen style.

4. Citation and Referencing

Authors should follow widely recognized citation styles. Examples include:

  • APA (7th edition):

Aim and Scope of ELJ

Eddissi Languages Journal is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published semi-annually by the Theoretical and Applied Linguistic Studies Laboratory (TALSL) at Mohamed Bou Diaf University of M’Sila, Algeria. The journal aims to advance knowledge and promote high-quality academic research in linguistics and literary studies, serving a diverse international readership of researchers, practitioners, and scholars.

The journal publishes original research articles in English and French that address a wide range of topics within theoretical and applied linguistics, as well as literary studies. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, language teaching and learning, language testing and assessment, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), pragmatics, sociolinguistics, critical discourse analysis, curriculum development, classroom-based research, and language policy and planning. In addition, the journal welcomes rigorously conducted research in literary studies that reflects contemporary theoretical, critical, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Eddissi Languages Journal adopts a broad and inclusive editorial policy, encouraging contributions from different linguistic, cultural, and academic traditions. The journal does not adhere to or promote any particular theoretical orientation or methodological paradigm; instead, it values diversity of approaches and interdisciplinary scholarship that contribute meaningfully to the field.

All submissions are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by qualified experts in the relevant disciplines. Manuscripts are evaluated on the basis of originality, academic merit, methodological soundness, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope and international audience. The journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows internationally recognized guidelines on editorial transparency, academic integrity, and ethical publishing practices.
