Diagnosis of the Difficulties in Practicing Psychological accompaniment from the Perspective of Vocational Guidance Counselors- A Field Study in the Vocational Training and Education Sector in Algeria

The study aimed to diagnose the difficulties encountered in practicing psychological accompaniment, for trainees during their training process, as perceived by vocational guidance, assessment, and integration counselors in the vocational training sector in Algeria. To achieve the objectives of this descriptive study, the researchers designed a questionnaire covering four dimensions that encompass the presumed difficulties. After verifying the reliability and validity of the instrument, the questionnaire was administered electronically to a randomly selected sample of 142 guidance counselors (42 males and 100 females), out of a total of 473 electronic responses.
The results of hypothesis testing revealed the existence of difficulties in providing psychological accompaniment, as perceived by guidance counselors across all dimensions. The t-test showed that the calculated value (107.30) was statistically significant at the 0.01 level. Technical difficulties ranked first, followed by organizational and administrative difficulties, then difficulties related to both counselors and trainees. The study further concluded that there were no statistically significant differences in diagnosing these difficulties attributable to gender or years of professional experience.
The study recommends the necessity of planning and organizing psychological accompaniment tasks within a program based on theoretical approaches that address various aspects of the trainee’s personality to help them build their career project, in addition to reconsidering the content of professional development programs for this category in line with scientific advances in the field of modern vocational guidance.
