The role of organizational culture in stimulating innovation within university institutions: a field study at the University of Ouargla

Abstract

The present study aimed to explore the role of organizational culture in fostering innovation within the university institution by highlighting the impact of organizational values and practices enhancing innovative behaviors among individuals working in the academic environment. the University of Ouargla was selected as a model for this study. And the descriptive analytical method was adopted due to its suitability to the research topic. The study sample consisted of (36) employees from the University of Ouargla, who were selected intentionally, data were collected using two scales: the organizational culture scale across its dimensions (Denison) and scale of innovation with its dimensions. The study data were analyzed using the statistical program SPSS V26, and the study reached the following results:

1/The University of Ouargla is characterized by moderate level organizational culture that is based on innovation values.

2/Faculty members exhibit varying levels in adopting innovative practices.

3/There is a positive statistically significant relationship between the strength of the motivating organizational culture and the increase in innovation indicators.

These findings are in line with many previous studies in this field, while adding new insights into the Algerian university context, and this study constitutes an important addition to the literature related to university administration and innovation in Algeria, and its findings provide a practical basis for university policymakers to develop more supportive organizational environments for innovation.
