The level of Self-Control among Students of the Department of Psychology in Light of some Variables (A Field Study at Mohmed Boudiaf University-M'sila)

Abstract

The study aimed to know the level of self-control as a whole and the level of its three dimensions (self-monitoring, self-evaluation and self-reinforcement) among a sample of students of the department of psychology. As well as to know the distinctions in the level of self-control in light of some variables. The number of the sample reached (110) students. The descriptive analytical approach was followed in order to realize the objectives of the study. The researcher relied on the scale of self-control, so that he designed it based on the theoretical literature which is related to the variable of the study consisting of 30 phrases distributed over its three axes (self-monitoring, self-evaluation and self renforcement). He used the statistical program (SPSS19) in the statistical treatment in which statistical methods were used including: the arithmetic averages, the standard deviations, the test of t.test for two separate samples, the ANOVA test and Alpha Cronbach. After the statistical analysis of data using the program SPSS version 19, the study reached that :

-The level of self-control among students of the department of psychology is average.

-The level of self-monitoring among students of the department of psychology is average.

-The level of self-evaluation among students of the department of psychology is average.

-The level of self-reinforcement among students of the department of psychology is average.

- There are no statistically significant distinctions in self-control among students of the department of psychology due to the variable of gender.

- There are no statistically significant distinctions in self-control among students of the department of psychology due to the variable of specialization.

- There are no statistically significant distinctions in the level of self-control among students of the department of psychology due to variable of the academic level
