Abstract

The purpose of the current study is to identify the nature of the relationship between social support and acceptance of diabetes in adolescents, as adolescent diabetes may affect its psychological, social and physical trajectory and may hinder it from adapting, Especially since type 1 diabetes strikes at an early age, which may make the teenager live in a violent shock, and here the social support is highlighted by the doctor the main factor in making the adolescent with diabetes receptive to this disease, as the doctor is the person who resorts to the patient to help him in the treatment of his condition using medical scientific means, since the relationship between the patient and the doctor is an reciprocal and interactive relationship In order for the relationship between the patient and the doctor to succeed, the patient must trust him and take all the instructions of the doctor, who must harness all his abilities, skills and information in diagnosing the disease and stand on treatment is considered a catalyst and support for the patient in accepting the disease, by helping the patient to implement the treatment plan, and providing him with the necessary advice So the role of the attending physician in this case is to try to help and support the injured teenager to overcome this trauma and give him the necessary information about the disease . The teenager should also apply the orders and follow the advice provided strictly by the treating doctor down from this reciprocal relationship to maintain the health of the injured teenager and not deteriorate his health for the worse, which makes him receptive to his illness as normal and without feeling it.

That is, whenever social support is significant, such as the availability of satisfactory social relationships by families, friends and the doctor characterized by love, friendliness and trust, it becomes a barrier to any negative impact of life pressures and on the mental and physical health of a teenager with diabetes. We relied on the descriptive method, and the study sample consisted of (150) adolescents (80) males and (70) females, and the results of the study indicated:

- The level of social support in a teenager with diabetes is average

 - the level of diabetes acceptance in a teenager with moderate diabetes

- there is a positive correlation between social support and diabetes acceptance in adolescents with diabetes.
