Breast Cancer patients’ quality of life during chemotherapy - Case study model

Abstract

The current study aims to reveal the quality of life of breast cancer patients during chemical treatment, Identifying the most important indicators that contribute to their quality of life. To achieve the study's objectives, the researcher used the clinical curriculum and quality of life measure.

The use of the clinical curriculum with its tools of interview guide, clinic observation and case history, as well as the use of psychological tests that allows the specialist to learn the detailed history of breast cancer patients and a deeper understanding of their present, making it easier for us to analyze

cases and from which it facilitates the process of the psychological accompaniment and the psychotherapy. After a clinical study of two cases of breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy, the following results were reached:

  • Both situations enjoy a high level of quality of life, with variation in grades.
  • We can say that the first case went beyond the trauma of the disease and lives with some kind of acceptance and adaptation to the health situation

 The second case, while receiving a high degree of type (is not far from the middle degree) in the scale, did not exceed the plight of disease.

  • Family and marital support is one of the indicators that contributed to the quality of life of breast cancer patients This is what we saw in the first case. The second case only received family support, which compensated for the absence of support and containment by the husband.
  • The following dimensions: quality of family life, quality of matrimonial life, quality of professional life and quality of religious life can be considered among the indicators that helped both cases in the treatment and chemotherapy phase.
