The level of positivity among cancer patients - a field study at the Oncology Department at Al-Zahrawi Hospital

Abstract

the study aims to measure the level of positivity in cancer patients, and its effect on personality variables (sex, age), according to positive criteria represented by self-esteam, optimism and life satisfaction which may affect their response to chemotherapy for cancer, where we relied on the analytical descriptive approach which is consistent with the objectives of the study the phenomenon and describing it as it exists in the field in an accurate and logical manner, and used the positivity scale of dr Barbara Frederickson .it was applied to a sample of 150 patient who was treated at the oncology department at Al Zahrawi hospital .and to verify the hypotheses of the study ,we applied to spss program, where we obtained the following results : *the level of positivity in a cancer patient who was treated at the oncology department at Al Zahraoui hospital is low , the arithmetic reached 2،105)) and standard deviation0.22731).).

- There were no statistically significant differences in the level of positivity of the cancer patient in the Oncology Department at Al-Zahrawi Hospital in M'sila due to his gender.

- There were no statistically significant differences in the level of positivity of the cancer patient in the Oncology Department at Al-Zahrawi Hospital in Messila due to his age.  

In light of the results of the study carried out by the two researchers, it is necessary to have a psychological intervention at the level of the Oncology Department at Al-Zahrawi Hospital in order to help patients improve and raise the level of positivity as a psychological treatment for them that complements their drug treatment and increases their effectiveness and cure rate.
