The current Arab societal reality, with its shared components of a single religion, extended geography, common history, a single language, and a shared destiny, compels its study as a single entity despite cultural and ethnic differences.
The most important takeaway from sociological studies on the phenomenon of domestic violence is the alignment with social transformation as a traditional society governed by religious, cultural, and social values. To maintain its independent entity, it works on reproducing itself. It has been a formidable fortress against colonial attempts to dismantle it. Studies have shown that the Arab family, have undergone changes in their structural form, internal relationships, and social, religious, and cultural values due to various factors.
In this context, our study aimed to investigate the nature of domestic violence and its impact on family structure, and to identify the cultural models that perpetuate it.
In this context, our study aimed to investigate the nature of domestic violence and its impact on social structure, and to identify the cultural models that fuel it. The distinctive feature of Arab social formations is their historical diversity. They include pre-capitalist formations based on social units (tribe, clan, extended family) and diverse, dependent, and distorted capitalist formations based on hybrid and incomplete social classes and professional hierarchies, as well as civil society organizations and the primary family, alongside the influence of the urban environment on social behavior.
And the resulting open and hidden conflicts due to changes in family values and the hybrid social structure between the traditional and the modern.
