Critical discourse, in its modern sense, explores a linguistic and cognitive adventure aimed at probing the meanings of literary texts in domains where they were traditionally not expected to reside; while critical discourse was long considered an attempt to situate the literary text within established aesthetic categories derived from ancient, rhetoric-heavy criticism, it has evolved today into an aesthetic background that treats the literary text as a cognitive ground for an intellectual dialogue with the essences of literary language and philosophical possibilities of meaning (as Louis Althusser suggested that philosophy is a linguistic formulation of the familiar world); thus, this study aims to illuminate a specific aspect of this modernist discourse which, despite appearing to break away from traditional Arabic critical and aesthetic discourses, contains profound references and significant indications that these heritage components transcend time, ideas, and tastes.
