Abstract

Swimming is a type of water sport that uses the water environment as a medium for movement through the arms, legs, and torso. Its purpose is to enhance a person's physical, technical, mental, social, and psychological capabilities. Swimming instruction encompasses the processes by which an individual (a swimming instructor or coach) imparts their knowledge and experience to the learner. The learning process in swimming involves changing or modifying the learner's behavior. Motor learning is the performance of a movement or skill through the actual practice of correct training. Therefore, the ability to swim, which a person may not possess innately, is evidence of the acquisition of numerous motor skills. Instructional swimming is one of the most important aspects of swimming. It involves acquiring various swimming skills and techniques, starting with basic skills and introductory techniques, and progressing to mastering the four swimming strokes. This is all within the framework of achieving two important principles: recreation and safety. The swimming instruction stage is an indispensable foundation for moving to the training stage and reaching advanced levels.
