Publishing Ethics and Misconduct
Journal of Legal Studies and Researches (JLSR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. The journal adheres to the principles and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout the publication process.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Authors must submit only original work that has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
- All sources used in the research must be properly acknowledged and cited.
- Authors must avoid plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and duplicate submission.
- Authorship should accurately reflect individual contributions. All those who made a significant contribution should be listed as co-authors, while individuals who contributed in a supporting role should be acknowledged.
- Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their work.
- If errors or inaccuracies are discovered after publication, authors are obliged to promptly notify the editors to correct or retract their work.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, impartial, and timely review process.
- Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or political beliefs of the authors.
- Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related communications.
- Editors will take necessary measures, in line with COPE guidelines, to address cases of suspected ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, redundant publication, or data manipulation.
- Editors should not have any conflict of interest regarding manuscripts under their consideration.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and credibility of publications.
- They must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and should not use information obtained during the review process for personal advantage.
- Reviewers should provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback to assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
- Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed to the editors, and reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
- Reviewers must notify the editors if they suspect any form of research or publication misconduct.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools (such as large language models, translation software, or automated data analysis systems) in the preparation of their manuscripts.
- AI tools may be used to support research (e.g., language editing, data processing, idea generation), but they cannot replace the intellectual contribution of the author(s).
- AI tools cannot be listed as authors; full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the work rests with the human authors.
- Authors must ensure that the use of AI does not result in plagiarism, fabricated references, data manipulation, or biased results.
- Any use of AI should be transparently acknowledged in the manuscript (e.g., in the acknowledgments or methods section, as appropriate).
Misconduct and Handling of Ethical Issues
- JLSR takes all forms of publication misconduct seriously, including plagiarism, data manipulation, redundant publication, improper authorship, and undisclosed conflicts of interest.
- Allegations of misconduct will be investigated in accordance with COPE’s flowcharts and guidelines.
- Where misconduct is confirmed, the journal may take corrective actions, including:
- Rejection of the manuscript or withdrawal of the published article
- Issuing a correction or retraction notice
- Notification of the authors’ institutions or funding bodies
- The journal is committed to ensuring that all cases are handled fairly, transparently, and consistently.
Statement of Integrity
By submitting to JLSR, authors agree to abide by the journal’s publishing ethics and misconduct policies. The journal strives to foster a research environment built on trust, responsibility, and respect for scholarly integrity.
