The Semi-presidential System: a New Constitutional Design

To try to overcome the problem of political instability resulting from parliamentary hegemony, through certain constitutional mechanisms, or so-called parliamentary rationalization. However, the election of the President of the Republic by direct universal suffrage in these systems led to the birth of a new constitutional model, later called the semi-presidential system. Researchers and political scientists differed in their designation and characterization.
