Electronic Commercial Activities in Algerian Legislation
Keywords:
E-commerce, Algerian, legislationAbstract
Given the paramount importance of the internet and modern information and communication technologies in recent times, and given Algeria's pursuit of developing its trade by adopting all that is new and beneficial to its economy, the Algerian legislator has incorporated this technology into numerous legal texts, whether regulating civil or commercial transactions. The Algerian legislator was not detached from these developments in the commercial field; rather, it was influenced by them and took them into account in its legal texts. Several laws have been issued confirming the acceptance of electronic media within Algerian commercial law, including the introduction of electronic payment methods in 2005, the electronic commercial register in 2013, and, in 2015, a law specific to electronic signatures and certifications. Such matters prompt us to examine and inquire whether commercial transactions covered by Algerian commercial law can be completed electronically, or whether there are any impediments to doing so.
