Proof of Private Real Estate Ownership Through Real Estate Investigation

Abstract

The mechanism of real estate investigation was introduced due to the significant delay in the general land survey process, as well as the fundamental shortcomings resulting from the application of the notoriety deed provided for in Decree No. 83-352 of 21 May 1983. This prompted the Algerian legislator to repeal the provisions governing the notoriety deed and replace them with Law No. 07-02 of 27 February 2007, which establishes a procedure for verifying real property ownership rights and issuing title deeds through a real estate investigation. This procedure is carried out in parallel with, yet independently from, the processes of general land surveying and registration in the land registry.
