Abstract

The Organic Law n° 12-03 dated in 12th of January 2012 determining the modalities for extending women's representation in the elected councils, is aimed to boost women’s participation and to achieve the principle of equality in the field of political participation between women and men. Therefore, it embodies and it consecrates the requirements of the state of rights and law. Despite the success achieved by this law to reflect the state of rights and law in raising the percentage of women candidates and deputies,
equality between women and men was not actually achieved in the political participation at the level of elected councils, except for the proportion allocated to the expatriate Algerian community, which is the only one through which women's participation has been embedded.
