The Intertextuality of the Rebellious Character in: Archaeology of Chaos (in Love) by Mustapha Benfodil, The Bite of the Poppy by Sarah Haidar, and Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs

Our article is a literary study centered on an important component of literary texts: the fictional character. We will explore this concept in three texts: William Burroughs's Naked Lunch, Sarah Haidar's The Bite of the Poppy, and Mustapha Benfodil's Archaeology of Chaos (in Love). Our study aims to identify the intertextual link, specifically the rebellious character, between the three novels. Several references in the two Algerian texts to the American text led us to question this potential connection. This study will be informed by the theories of intertextuality developed by Roland Barthes and Kristeva, as well as the work of Philippe Hamon and Vincent Jouve on the fictional character.
