Abstract

The Neurolinguistic Approach (NLA) has emerged as a groundbreaking paradigm in foreign and second language teaching, drawing on recent discoveries in neuroscience. Originating from the Intensive French (FI) program developed in Canada, this approach has gradually gained recognition and is now experiencing increasing international adoption due to its compelling results. In our research, we examine the impact of recent developments in NLA on the cognitive and affective dimensions of a group of 23 adult beginners in French as a foreign language (FLE). Of these participants, 17 received instruction based on the Action-Oriented Approach, while the remaining 6 were taught using the revised version of NLA implemented at the Ocean and Chitsazan language institutes in Tabriz. Conducted between 2023 and 2024, our study adopts a hypothetico-deductive design and employs several data collection tools (standardized tests, questionnaires, observations, and document analysis) over two consecutive semesters, totaling 108 hours of instruction. The results indicate that recent adaptations of the Neurolinguistic Approach have a significant positive impact on improving the cognitive and affective states of learners in the experimental group.
