Marital stability in mixed marriages in Algeria- Field study on Sample of mixed marriages

Abstract

The objective of the study was to reveal the level of marital stability in mixed marriages in Algeria. The research also aimed to identify the difference in the level of marital stability in Arab mixed marriages and Arab-foreign mixed marriages. The research consisted of a random sample, consisting of (42) mixed marriages; i.e. (42) husbands and (42) wives. (84) Men and Women. The nationality of the Algerian spouse(s) was from the following states: Algiers, Oran, Wadi, Bejaia, Tébessa and Annaba.  Our study was limited to a sample consisting of only two Arab countries: Tunisia and Libya. For mixed Algerian-Arab marriages.

 Moreover, foreign countries: Russia, Serbia, France, Italy, Belgium and Turkey. For Algerian-foreign mixed marriages.

The study conducted in 2024 in Algeria. The study used an exploratory descriptive approach and applied the Marital Stability Scale: (Asmaa Dibeh, 2021) consisting of 25 statements. Dr. Mohamed Brahmi into English and French, a specialist in English linguistics, translated the scale. The research yielded the following results:

- The level of marital stability in mixed marriages is estimated at: Average with an arithmetic mean of (2.333).

- There are statistically significant differences in the level of marital stability in Arab mixed marriages and Arab-foreign mixed marriages in favour of Arab mixed marriages with a larger mean of (61.2636).

The research concluded with suggestions and recommendations, including: Research on the phenomenon of social integration of the children of mixed marriages, and the schooling and its problems among the children.
