The Balanced Scoecard and its Role in Achieving sustainable Development

Abstract

The Balanced Scorecard was featured in an article published in the Harvard Economic Review in 1992 by Robert Kaplan and David Norton .It is a practical framework used as an introduction to improve current and future performance through four dimensions (Financial, Customer, Internal Process, and Learning and Growth).It represents a comprehensive which comprises both quantitative and abstract aspects of performance which supports the survival and continuity of companies. This is through applying social responsibility which aims at developing the society we live in. Hence, this paper investigates the role of The Balanced Scorecard with its different dimensions in achieving the requirements of sustainable development.

The responsibility of the institution is united on the basis of the benefits it provides to society, which is the criterion for survival and continued existence. Community performance indicators include everything related to the economic impact of the institution on society, including workers, customers and other partners.
