The psychological needs of third-year clinical psychology students- A field study at Mohamed Boudiaf University in M'Sila

Abstract

This study, entitled "Psychological Immunity among Third-Year Clinical Psychology Students: A Field Study at Mohamed Boudiaf University," aimed to identify the level of psychological immunity among third-year clinical psychology students at Mohamed Boudiaf University in M'Sila, Algeria, and to determine the dominant dimension within the four dimensions of the psychological immunity scale: the developmental-protective dimension, the self-psychological dimension, the social dimension, and the intellectual-emotional dimension. To achieve these objectives, the Psychological Immunity Scale, developed by Mohamed Rafik Mohamed Al-Ahmad (2020), was used. It contained 32 items. The descriptive method was employed. The pilot sample consisted of 30 students, while the main study included 108 students enrolled in the third year of clinical psychology.

 At Mohamed Boudiaf University in M'Sila, after analyzing the results using the SPSS v26 statistical package and calculating the validity and reliability of the scale, and employing Pearson's coefficient, Shapiro-Wilk test, Friedman's coefficient, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test, we obtained the following results:

- The level of psychological resilience among clinical psychology students is moderate, meaning the first hypothesis, which stated that the level of psychological resilience among clinical psychology students is high, was not confirmed.

- However, the second hypothesis was confirmed, showing a variation in the dimensions of the psychological resilience scale, with the "social dimension" being the most prominent, followed by the "developmental-protective dimension," then the "self-psychological dimension," and finally the "intellectual and emotional dimension."
