Citizenship in fourth year middle school –school book as a prototype

This current study tackled the subject of citizenship in the Civil Education for the middle school fourth garde school book. The study aimed to know the citizenship values contained in the book using a content analysis methodology with the use of the content of the school book to define the citizenship values that it contains. The analysis showed that the middle school fourth garde school book contains citizenship values that are divided into three aspects: First, the collective community life that includes the pupil s relationship with his environment and others. The second includes civil life, it makes the pupil aware of his rights and duties. And the third includes the democratic life and republic institutions that inform the pupil of his nation and its institutions and his relationship with the state a citzen. We also noticed that the citizenship values relted to social and civil life was more emphasized in the book. The study shows that the book did not balance the most important pillars of citizenship based on right and duties. Through the middle school fourth grade school books content analysis we found that the book overstated rights over duties, it showed that the rights were mentioned more than duties, This
