Abstract

Cognitive-perceptual linguistic studies have become a major focus of linguistic research in recent years. This is due to the advancement of linguistic sciences, as well as the need for these studies to address many scientific gaps that previously existed. Phonology, like other levels of linguistics, is not isolated from cognitive-perceptual linguistics. It is concerned with the mental aspects and the process of transitioning from perception to cognition. In other words, how does the recipient perceive complex linguistic sounds in words and sentences through perceptual processes, and how do they understand them through the cognitive processes that occur in the recipient’s mind? The importance of this research lies in highlighting this aspect through the TRACE model, which is a model for speech perception, and applying this model to some Qur’anic examples. According to this model, the research concluded that the recipient is the one who determines the phoneme within the word; if the arrangement of the phonemes within the word is not acceptable to their mind, again they mentally rearrange these phonemes.
