Occurrence of Meaning in the Interpretation of Durr Al-Masun by Al-Samin Al-Halabi

The interpretation of the holy Qur’an is based on meaning that needs the combination of a set of principles and rules to be defined. Grammatical guidance is one of these principles according to the rule on which grammar scholars unanimously agreed; (Parsing is a branch of meaning). Therefore, the Quranic verses cannot be parsed only if we understand their meaning. In this case, we consider meaning as a root, and all he branches must be conducted according to it. However, some interpreters of the Qur’an have shown an exaggerated interest in the grammatical guidance’s mechanism, and transformed the root to a branch and vice versa. Among these interpreters, we name Al-Samin Al-Halabi who often emphasizes on grammatical meaning of the words inside the sentence according to its parsing, and directs the hole meaning conferring to the various grammatical functions of the grammatical chapter. Subsequently, he parses the same word if it has a specific syntax (Ma’fou’) in different ways: it could be (Moubtada’) as it could be (khabar), or it can be a subject for an omitted verb, and so on.
